KIIT-TBI was selected by BIRAC, Govt of India to host the BIRAC SoCH Hackathon between 5th March to 7th March 2018. BIRAC-SoCH is an innovative challenge award aimed at propelling the Indian innovators towards combatting the changes of community health sector.

The theme for the hackathon was to develop platform technologies for reducing the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases along with sanitation and waste recycling. A total of 9 teams who were shortlisted from all across the country, pitched their ideas and worked over 48 hours to built their prototypes.

KIIT-TBI provided participants with access to continuous mentorship, instrumentation and rapid prototyping facilities.  The hackathon generated many medtech solutions for healthcare problems spanning from cancer, diabetes, virtual reality in healthcare, IoT, neonatal antimicrobial resistance and sanitation.

Best 5 Teams will be awarded INR 15.00 Lakhs each on BIRAC’S  Foundation Day on 20th March, with the final winner receiving a grant-in-aid of INR 50 lakhs.
