KIIT-TBI Bioincubator has been in operation since 2017, with support from BIRAC under the Bio-NEST scheme (Bioincubators Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling Technologies). Bio-NEST was launched by BIRAC with a vision that focused on fostering the biotech innovation ecosystem in the country. Unlike start-ups in the IT sector, enterprising ideas in the biotech sector need incubation support of a different kind where they need a landing space to test their ideas, run their operations, have access to high end instrumentations and locate in a place where they connect with other start-ups and mentors. Bio-NEST program provides support to establish bio-incubators either as a standalone entity or as a part of the academia. Through Bio-NEST, BIRAC has supported 60 bio-incubators creating a cumulative area of 781043.75 sq. ft. for budding entrepreneurs.
KIIT-TBI Bioincubator has established itself in the eastern region with an excellent track record for growth and development of early-stage companies carrying forward translational research.
Having an unrivalled ability to cater for the needs of both office and lab-based startups, by providing flexible and affordable accommodation it’s currently home to 70+ innovators including companies operating in the agri biotechnology, industrial processes to formulations, nanotechnology and medical devices sector.
BIRAC has initiated Bio-NEST program, aimed at creating world-class bioincubators, with KIIT-TBI being one of them. This programme provides incubation space, mentor network, instrumentation facilities, IP and technology management support.
