GEN-NEXT SUPPORT FOR INNOVATIVE STARTUPS – GENESIS
JOURNEY WITH MeitY, GoI
Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups (GENESIS) is an ambitious umbrella initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The program is designed to discover, support, grow, and accelerate innovative tech startups, with a special focus on Tier-II and Tier-III cities across India. GENESIS aims to build a thriving and inclusive startup ecosystem by fostering collaborative engagement between startups, government bodies, and corporates. The initiative promotes digitization grounded in the principles of inclusivity, accessibility, and affordability, driving forward employment generation and economic growth. GENESIS seeks to scale and sustain India’s innovation landscape by unlocking potential in underserved regions and nurturing next-generation entrepreneurs.

STARTUP SELECTION CRITERIA
- A beneficiary of MeitY Schemes or Registered with MSH.
- A DPIIT-registered startup.
- Shareholding by Indian promoters in the startup should be at least 51% at the time of application to the incubator for the scheme, as per the Companies Act, 2013.
- Have a Full-Time CEO, have market-ready products, and are seeking funds for business development and commercialization (in certain categories).
GENESIS Funding Programs for startups
Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) Support
EiR funding up to Rs. 10 Lakhs without any matching fund requirement.
Call-1 Closed
Deep-Tech Funding Support
There is also provision to support some deep-tech startups by providing funding support with an upper ceiling of Rs. 1 Cr per startup without any matching fund requirement.
Investment Support
Private sector matching funding of 1:1 for the investment component of the scheme with avg. funding of Rs. 40 Lakhs up to Rs. 50 Lakhs.
Pilot Funding Support
Pilot funding to a startup with avg. funding of Rs. 40 Lakhs up to Rs. 50 Lakhs without any matching fund requirement.
