KIIT Technology Business Incubator embarked on a transformative journey as an iDEX Partner Incubator, supported By iDEX-DIO, Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, GoI marking a significant milestone in its commitment to fostering innovation in the defence sector. Through strategic partnerships and a relentless focus on nurturing defence based startups, KIIT TBI evolved into a dynamic hub where cutting-edge ideas intersect with defence technology. As an iDEX Partner Incubator, it provides a conducive environment for budding entrepreneurs to ideate, prototype, and commercialize solutions addressing critical defence challenges. With tailored support, mentorship, and access to resources, KIIT TBI empowered startups to develop disruptive technologies, contributing to India’s defence ecosystem and reinforcing its position as a leader in innovation-driven defence solutions.

OBJECTIVES: iDEX-DIO

◉ Scout, Mentor & Nurture innovations that can co-create Made in India defence technologies for the Indian armed forces & other establishments.
◉ Promote defence innovations at PAN India with major focus in east and northeast region of the country.
◉ Support the identified Innovators/Startups/MSMEs with prototyping and piloting defence related products/technologies.
◉ Conduct out-reach and promotional undertakings for Defence India Startup Challenges/ Open Challenges/Prime Challenges/internships or any other activity.
◉ Support iDEX-DIO in building the ecosystem for iDEX Winners to interact with the Indian Defence establishment.

PROGRAMS AT iDEX PARTNER INCUBATOR (KIIT-TBI)

DEFENCE INDIA STARTUP CHALLENGES (DISC)

Defence India Startup Challenge has been launched by iDEX DIO, DDP, Ministry of Defence, GoI in partnership with the Atal Innovation Mission, aimed at supporting Startups/MSMEs/Innovators to create prototypes and commercialize products/solutions in the area of National Defence and Security.

OPEN CHALLENGE (OC)

iDEX Open Challenge aims to create opportunities for innovators to propose ways for harnessing their technology capabilities to strengthen our nation’s military superiority. This invites proposals under various leading technology domains, including aerospace, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, etc. Participants can submit proposals under one or more themes.

iDEX PRIME

With an increased grant amount of Rs 10 cr, iDEX PRIME is launched with six problem statements from the Armed Forces for resolution by startups & innovators.The 1st edition of iDEX Prime (SPRINT) is launched with 6 Problem Statements from Indian Navy for resolution by startups & innovators.

Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX (ADITI)

ADITI is an endeavor of iDEX-DIO, DDP, Ministry of Defence, GoI to support the development and acceleration of innovation in critical and strategic deep-tech technologies which are in the nascent stage of research & development in the country. As India emerges a global power in Defence & change in the dynamics of modern warfare, it is imperative to develop technologies, which are advanced, critical, and strategic from the perspective of future warfare.

India-United States Defence Acceleration Ecosystem (Indus-x)

INDUS-X Mutual Promotion of Advanced Collaborative Technologies (IMPACT) Challenges are problem statements being launched jointly by Indian Ministry of Defence’s Innovations for Defence Excellence and the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Innovation Unit for promoting co-development among the startups of the two nations under the umbrella of INDUS-X.

DefendX Accelerator Program

The DefendX: Defence Innovation Showcase Program in association with DRDO is a comprehensive platform that provides startups in the defence and aerospace sector with valuable support, mentorship, networking opportunities. Startups in the accelerator cohort will receive valuable mentorship from experienced professionals in various fields such as military-grade technology, product development, fundraising, financial planning, IP ownership, business operations, etc.
